Sign and Shadow is a multimedia installation that reconfigures four video-based works and sculptural pieces, inspired by natural imagery, within wooden frames. Each of these works, previously presented as individual pieces, centers around natural elements with circular shapes, such as images of the sun or fruit, framed again within a grid.
The work develops around the symbolism of resisting the cyclical rules of nature and seeking freedom within them. The video works deconstruct and reconstruct natural images and their rules, attempting to break free from fixed orders and open up new possibilities. Through this process, the work visually explores the desire to transcend the cycles of life, death, and eternity, as well as the freedom of interpretation. By transforming and reassembling natural symbols, the work emphasizes a fantastical perspective aiming to transcend reality.
기호와 그림자
기호와 그림자는 자연 이미지에서 영감을 받은 4개의 video based 작품과 소조형 작품을 나무 프레임에 재배치한 다매체 설치 작업이다. 각각 하나의 작품으로 선보여진바 있는 영상 작업 및 조형 작업들은, 특히 해의 이미지나 열매 이미지와 같이 원의 형태를 가진 자연물을 중심으로 격자안에 다시 프레임 되었다.
작업은 자연의 순환적 규칙에 대한 반발과 그 안에서 자유를 추구하는 상징성을 중심으로 전개된다. 영상 작품들은 자연 이미지와 그 규칙을 해체하고 재구성하는 과정을 통해, 고정된 질서에서 벗어나 새로운 가능성을 열어가려는 시도를 보여준다. 이를 통해 생과 죽음, 영원의 순환을 넘어서려는 욕망과 자유로운 해석을 시각적으로 탐구한다. 자연의 상징물이 변형되고 재구성됨으로써, 현실을 초월하려는 판타지적인 시각이 강조된다.
